The Cannes Lions festival is running for the moment. As I work there twice a year, I have been running the only blog about Cannes for some time. Occasionally, I come across some gems. Nicolle Nordmann, an assistant brand manager with Campbell Company of Canada, is attending the day-long screenings at the Lions. She was taken aback by the very vocal reactions to bad ads in the hall. “I’m wondering what the creative outcome would be if we, as clients, were this candid with our feedback at creative presentations? Should we laugh? Should we whistle?”

How does that sound? Read the full article on Cannes or Bust.

Purely by coincidence, we worked on two documentaries with similar themes recently. “Où est l’amour dans la palmeraie?/Where is the Love in the Palm Grove?” is the tale of one man’s quest for love in rural Morocco. It was produced by Iota Productions, directed by Jérôme le Maire. The Write Stuff handled the French-English subtitles. “Mariage au pays” is a documentary about arranged marriages amongst immigrant communities directed by Greet Brouwers. The Write Stuff handled the Dutch-French translations. Both films will be premiered at the upcoming Mediterranean Film Festival in Brussels (Nov 23-Dec  2, 2006).
